Christmas 2007

Blue Ice Tunnel to SantaChristmas 2007 came to Killenaule with a bang, on show was what could only be described as a christmas wonderworld with the emphasis been given to our friend in the big red suit and also to the Birthday boy and his family, not to forget those smaller members of our community.

On show was the result of weeks of Santa’s little helpers hard work, all given on a volunteer basis in aid of our very own Community Playground. Much of this hard work being completed in the hidden mangers surrounding Killenaule, and sleigh driven to be put on show at Killenaule’s Sports Complex .

The Design and logistics of our venture were truly inspired by the senior elfs in our parish. On entry to the complex one was greeted with a fanfare of music from the Children’s disco, this was preceded by a fantastic selection of choral music specially selected for the season that was in it. Situated in the centre of the hall was a Christmas tree that can only be described as gargantuan and surrounding this was a selection of again voluntary stands from literature to teas and coffees.

Manger in production .. On entry to Santa’s Trail, our little folk were greeted by the elves of the parish who guided the children to the Postmaster. There they wrote their letters and had them stamped and posted ready for delivery to the north pole. We then went through the tunnel to the Elves workshop where all were busy making presents for those that passed through. We then visited the Manger where livestock sang with Joseph, Mary, Shepards and Kings. Then a time for reflection as story was told. And off we went to see Mrs Claus, carefully knitting a scarf for the jolly one for those cold nights ahead, then into Santa’s grotto, a chat, a photo and a click on the fireplace and hey presto a present for all was there to be had.

The Killenaule Playgroup Monster Draw was launched as the day drew to a close. The Draw will take place at Easter time and tickets are still available. Contacts for this will be posted on the About page in due course.
